Recommendation Information
That Superintendent's Recommendation #20-35, Grant Award Increase, be adopted as follows: that the School Committee accept and approve the grant award in the amount and for the period indicated:
FY20 Special Education IDEA Allocations (SC20605) INCREASE in the amount of $13,265.00 for the period September 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
Description: The purpose of this Federal Entitlement Grant Program is to provide funds to ensure that eligible students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education that includes special education and related services designed to meet their individual needs. The temporary salaries line is an offset for the Proportionate Share of services provided to private school students. The remainder will be used for out-of-district tuition for students.
The increase of $10,265 will go towards out-of-district tuition. The additional $3,000 was part of our original allocation which DESE, in years past, would pay directly to Urban Collaborative for our membership; they now require us to include it in our budget.
