Early College

Department Description

Early College Program

With the support from the State of Massachusetts and the City of Cambridge, the Early College Program is a collaboration between local colleges and universities, and the Cambridge Public Schools. These exciting new partnerships aim to increase college access for CRLS students.

Early College programs work to combine parts of high school and college to provide students with the opportunity to experience and complete college level academic coursework for high transferable credit, and at the same time gain exposure to a variety of academic and career opportunities. There are no prerequisites to apply, and the program's focus is on equitable access for students traditionally underserved by higher education including Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students, students who are first in their family to attend college (first-generation) students on free and reduced lunch, Multilingual Learners, and students with disabilities.

Two programs are available: one with Lesley University and the other with Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology (Franklin Cummings Tech). The program is open to students in grades 10-12 (Lesley University) and grade 12 (Franklin Cummings Tech).
