Course Description
This course covers the priority Geometry Standards as well as revisits priority prerequisite standards for success in Geometry. The class will address the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for Mathematics Incorporating the Common Core Standards for Massachusetts. The eight Standards of Mathematical Practice will be incorporated throughout the year in that it is designed to involve students in active learning, inquiry based problems and problem solving strategies to build conceptual understanding and to strengthen students' abilities to think, reason, and problem-solve using mathematical understandings and skills. Students will learn about transformations in the plane, understand congruence via rigid motions, Geometric proofs, and similarity with transformations. After this robust introduction to Geometry, all students will move into Geometry Honors for the 2nd semester.
