Course Description

In this course students will examine the development of sports in American society. There will be an emphasis on helping students gain a better understanding of the relationship that sport has on social, cultural, economic, and political forces that are at work in the United States. Students will examine the historical context as well as the significance of politics, gender, race, and social class through readings, primary sources, audio and visual materials as well as class discussions.
