Modern Dance Company is a 5th period course designed for students who exhibit extraordinary commitment to dance at CRLS. Acceptance into the course as a dancer is based on an audition held during the third week of each semester. Acceptance into this course as a student choreographer is based on a written application due two weeks after the semester begins. Our focus is on student choreography, guest choreographers, creating community among CRLS dancers, improving dance technique, and on growing performance skills. The course culminates in a performance, “Dance/works,” which takes place in December or May. All students are required to perform and attend technical rehearsals during performance week (typically 3:00-8:00 M-Th, 5:00- 10:00 Fri-Sat) Performances: January 13&14 and May 12&13 This program has sections. Each choreographer is given a 75 minute slot. Only students cast in that dance need to report at the time assigned of the dance rehearsal for which they are cast. This program may be taken for credit. Please discuss with your guidance councilor.
